M Service is the only eco-responsible service center in Sumy
In today's world, any business must be socially and environmentally responsible, because it is entrepreneurs who are always proactive and often change the world for the better by translating their ideas into useful products or services for people.
Why are we doing this?
From the very beginning of the service center creation M.Service, gadget repair shop in Sumy, we were looking for an opportunity to get involved in something more than just business for business. Since 2018, we have participated in many city events, clean-ups, such as World Cleanup Day, etc. For several years of our activity, the direction of environmental responsibility has found us, through the accumulation of batteries of various types, through the replacement of batteries of phones, laptops, and other gadgets. Over time, there were so many batteries that our makeshift storage boxes were overflowing. And improper storage can lead to negative consequences details here (soon there will be an article on how batteries burn)
Why is it worth checking where you are donating?
We started collecting in mass markets where there were "special" boxes. But something was wrong... Later, during eco-forums, we got acquainted with the movement "Batteries, surrender!"and learned a lot of interesting things, for example, about pseudo-activists who did not recycle the batteries they handed in, but buried them in the ground or simply took them to landfills. But...
One small battery, decomposing in the ground, can contaminate up to 16m2 soil with hazardous substances!
Why does M Service accept batteries for recycling in Sumy?
The "Batteries, Give Up!" movement works with plants in Europe - GreenWEEE in Romania, Recupyl in Poland, and others. To date, this is the only known service that sends 100% batteries for recycling 8 types of batteriesand receive full reporting. Since recycling and logistics cannot be free, despite our desire to become part of a truly environmentally responsible business, we lacked the finances because it was a "covid" time...
But even now, we do not have time to process all requests for the return of batteries, that is, the mass collection of finger batteries, which we do not accept yet, for example, but we urge our customers and guests of the service center who use gadgets to replace the battery, or perhaps you have inflated replaceable batteries, which are extremely dangerous if stored incorrectly, and can also cause burns or fire!
Where were we before?
Over the years, the number of used batteries and accumulators has only increased. Especially after the full-scale invasion and the blackout of 2022-24: laptops, phones, power banks did not hold a charge, discharge quicklyand were completely out of order. Especially quickly, our shelves were filled with various types of non-working power banks, which, even due to the high demand and price, were not cost-effective to restore, and people simply left them in our service center.
What is the evidence of 100% recycling power batteries?
At the end of 2023, we received grant assistance under the program "Economic Sustainability of Ukraine"where, first of all, we entered the cost items for battery recycling. Having received everything we needed and signed an agreement with "Batteries, give up!", we received a special box for the return of batteries, and we are happy to report that
“Bring us batteries, power banks that will be recycled by 100% without polluting our already affected by gunpowder and metals Ukrainian lands!"
